Wusthof Gourmet 7 Piece Knife Set with Block

Wusthof Gourmet 7-Piece Knife Set with Block
The Gourmet 7-piece block set includes a 3-inch parer, 4-1/2-inch utility knife, 8-inch cooks knife, kitchen shears, 9-inch sharpening steel and a 9 slot storage block. Typical stamped knives are punched out like a cookie cutter. Wusthof Gourmet knives are laser cut. This intricate manufacturing process is superior to other -inch cookie cutter-inch methods as it is more precise and leaves the knives with less distortion. The Gourmet knives use the same steel that is used in our other more expensive knives. Wusthof uses a special blend of German steel through out the whole length of the knife. The ingredients of this steel are proudly etched on each blade. Wusthof not only uses the best materials to make a fine knife, but it is also crucial that each blade is precisely tempered. This tempering allows the knife to hold its edge for an extremely long time, yet can be maintained in your home kitchen with out the need to be sent away for maintenance. Located in the cutlery capital of the world, Solingen Germany, the wusthof factory history goes back as far as 1814 when the company was listed with the duchy of berg. To this day, the company remains family owned. Each step is performed to exacting standards by skilled German workers aided by the most modern, computer guided equipment. It is this balance of German technology and old world hand craftsmanship that is the secret of how each wüsthof knife is created. Known the world-over for it’s unique and uncompromising quality,

Customer Reviews
- I got these knives as a gift. I've used Wusthofs before and have never had any complaints, but these ones in particular are seriously lousy knives.

First, one of the knives was missing from the package. I think it was the 4" knife. Needless to say, I'm returning the knives.

Although I did not use the knives, and am returning them to Amazon ASAP, I could tell that the quality of the knives was much lower than I would expect from Wusthof. The blade is attached to the knife blade in a cheap way, using adhesive bonding rather than sturdier and longer-lasting metallic rivets. The area where the blade met the handle was rough and looked glued together.

The smaller knives weigh very little and do not seem sturdy. The knife blades seem flimsy and look like they could break easily.

Bottom line, these knives are not made for longevity. I'm looking for knives that will last for years; these won't do the job.

I think I will try to purchase a better Wusthof set, probably the nicer Classic set. I still trust the Wusthof brand, but be careful of this model.

- Beware!! Image is deceitful: the design of the knives that is being featured online is much more simple and poorer quality (no curved handle or red label) than the photo that's being used to promote the product! I instantly returned it: actual product and product in the photo are not the same!!

- I have a Wusthof Classic that's been sharpened so many times (a decade of daily use), it's come time to replace it. Saw this deal, saw the Classic line in the pictures and ordered.

What was pictured is NOT what was received!

Don't be fooled. This is not the Classic set, it's the cheap stamped out set, and because of it, this isn't a deal. A stamped knife is a stamped knife. It's cheap, light, can't hold an edge and while not really bad, is not something you want to use every day for years and years.

It's a disgrace for Amazon to picture a different product in anothers product description, but it's my fault for trusting them with it and not simply reading reviews and making sure I'm getting what I think I'm getting.
